  • Year 5 Round Up Summer 2 Week 2

    We've had another busy week in Year 5! Alongside rehearsals for our Key Stage 2 production of "Wizard of Oz", the pupils in 5E and 5M were finally able to make their flavoured bread! They thoroughly enjoyed kneading the dough and adding their additional flavours - there were some interesting combos! Cheese and apple is a new favourite for some, while many ran the chilli gauntlet!

  • Year 5 Round Up Summer 1 Week 3

    Friday was a delicious afternoon! The children tried a variety of food - we discussed taste, texture, appearance and smell. It was interesting to see how they supported and encouraged each other when trying new things. This will form the basis for our bread baking; the children will choose their favourite combination of ingredients to add to their bread dough.

  • Year 5 Round Up Spring 2 Week 2

    Summer term is quite a bit longer than Spring, but the days promise to hold so much light and warmth! This week, we have gotten straight back into the swing of things with ANGLE MEASURING! It can be a bit fiddly but the children have already made excellent progress. To be as accurate as possible, some of us matched the baseline to one of the angle lines and then shifted the whole protractor, so that the origin point matched the angle vertex; while others did it in the opposite order.

    What a wonderful day we've had! After a Well Done Assembly with a "Tiger Who Came To Tea", there were a variety of activities throughout school that embraced and celebrated all things BOOKS, and all things READING! From book marks to character designs...stories shared to stories written; the afternoon was a pleasure to be a part of. Reading is one of the most important things we can all do for out children.

  • Year 5 Round Up Spring 2 Week 2

    We've had a fabulous start to the half term - if only outside the classroom looked as great as the inside..this soggy weather seems unfair! The pupils have been using their prior learning around fractions, as we delve into the world of decimals. By being able to use the language of tenths, hundredths and thousandths, alongside place value, we've been able to compare and order decimals such as 1.2, 1.122 and 1.1. Next week, we are moving into adding and subtracting decimals which is vital for life....think MONEY!
