We start our Topic learning with the most exciting adventures, look out for the pictures on the website!

We have read lots of different traditional tales and thought about all the characters in these stories. We sorted these characters into heroes and villains. We found The Wolf in the garden (who ended up being a good wolf) and this was a wonderful way of exploring characters and how they don't always have to follow stereotypes. We used the story of Hansel and Gretel and Julia Donaldson's 'Room on the Broom' to explore the character of the Witch. Then, we found an old Spell Book with a very curious spell in it.  We couldn't wait to test it out and see what happened.  Before we knew it we were being invaded by frogs!  Soon after, we had a note from a witch asking for help. How exciting! We were asked to help her by making a spell!  We wrote some amazing lists of all the ingredients we used in our spells. Can you guess what might have been in them? 

Things to remember;

Year 1 have PE on Tuesdays - come to school wearing your PE kit - white t'shirt with black shorts or jogging bottoms. 

Reading 

Please make sure you hear your child read and sign their reading diary every day. 

Maths

It would really help to support your child's learning in maths if you could practise the number bonds to 20 - listed on the sheet given out at Parent's Evening.
